Argh! [15 Oct 2007|09:52am]
Darn ebay removed my listings because I had a link to my website on them! I stated I was providing the link to offer the buyer more info about me and my work, but that is apparently not allowed. I didn't realize this was a no-no! In the email they sent me, it says it is ok to give a link if you are providing the buyer with more info about you or the item, soooo??? But there is no way to dispute it, so I'll have the owl and the kitty re-listed this morning for a 3 day auction. The bear, miss tilly, is still up for some reason, so that's good, at least.
Argh! Anyways...sorry if this inconvenienced anyone :(

add some peaches from the farmer's market...

I love this bag from the new Interweave Felt magazine! I love the whole little ensemble, with the blue coat and the clog-boots. Aaah, winter! Too bad I can't knit. Even if I could, I'm sure I couldn't muster up the patience to make such a thing. Perhaps a recycled sweater with needle felted flowers? hmmm...just a thought.

We've just been enjoying lazy summer days around here; taking some time off to just enjoy our little family.

(Clara's "Rudolph toe" in the hospital...she loved this! One small joy during a scary time...)

So, as many of you know, my daughter Clara was born with a cleft palate, and last week she had surgery to repair it. It is something we had been nervously anticipating since she was born. All went well, although it was very, very hard to see her immediately afterwards. She was in a alot of pain and very confused and scared. She is a serious thumbsucker, and for the next three weeks, she has to wear special arm braces so she can't put her hands or any toys in her mouth (not even a bottle..poor thing has to eat with a syringe). This has proved to be the hardest part! She is in the midst of teething, so imagine that she can't chew on anything to relieve the pain! And she is used to using her thumb to put herself to sleep...so needless to say, we have had about, oh, maybe a total of 15 hrs of sleep in the past 7 days.
But now only 2 weeks to go, and it will be behind us!
The anticipation of her surgery has been the focus of a very busy month of May.

I also went out to Cincinnati to shoot the photos for my book! I am so excited about how everything looks! There seem to be a few needle felting books coming out in the next few months, but I think everyone should hold out for mine ;) It is going to be really, really cute! Look for it in early Spring of '08, but I think you'll be able to preorder it soon!

And for those of you wondering where the new critters are...I promise to have more soon! Once things return to normal around my house! Probably in late June, early July (if I'm lucky!)

Back to blogging.... [12 Apr 2007|08:10pm]
So, I feel the urge to return to this poor old blog. I'm dusting her off and starting anew. After having my daughter, Clara, and with my fledgling business sort of taking off, I have been so consumed with being a mom and making critters that I haven't had any room left in my life for a blog. But I am going to try again...

So to start, here are some pics from my Martha Stewart experience. That is probably the most interesting thing that has happened in the past few months (other than my little baby-kins growing up!)

Here I am in the art department the day before the shoot...wall to wall crafty goodness.

Yes, indeed, it's true...I am still here...alive and well! I have found blogging and motherhood to be an impossible combo, and, well, given the choice between the two, clearly, I choose being a mommy. When I find a snippet of time in my day, I always have so many other things to do...However, I'm thinking that I might have to get back into it. I've been toying with the idea of starting fresh with a shiny new blog; it may motivate me to find time in my life to document and share. perhaps soon...there are many exciting things happening around here I'd like to tell you all about!

Oh, I should mention that the Softie Awards are here! I'm a judge! Be sure to enter!

Thank you so much to everyone for their kind, kind words regarding Clara! We are doing well! We're finally getting a little schedule going, so I can manage to accomplish a few things around here! :) I'll have to post some more pictures soon!
Meanwhile, here's a Halloween bear update! A whole new bunch!

Clara was born on Sept 1st! She weighed a whopping 9lbs, and was 21 inches long! She is the sweetest, happiest little girl, and she looks just like her daddy...More soon...we're still trying to get into the swing of things around here:)

We've been without the internet for 5 days. Terrible! It couldn't have gone at a worse time, since baby is OVERDUE! And I am so completely restless and helpless and bored and worried. (So sad that the internet is my only companion...) She will be officially one week overdue tomorrow. They are going to induce if she doesn't arrive by the 5th. Yikes! I think I'm broken. I hope everything is ok in there. :(

waiting.... [14 Aug 2006|11:51am]

I'm a bit bored, laying around, rather like a beached whale. My midwife has ordered me to relax as much as possible with my feet up (since they are freakishly puffy). I am now a typical pregnant lady, waddling with my hand bracing my back. This last week has been tough! I'm lucky that I've had a pretty easy pregnancy, though, so I can't complain about a few aches and pains at the end. But it's pretty impossible to do any amount of walking; so although I'm dying to go do some shopping, or just get out of the house, I am glued to the couch. I'm trying to do some little projects I needed to finish, like this linen bunny. I'll probably start work on some new bears today, although another update won't be until after baby is born. I've been making lots of meals and freezing them, since I know if I don't we'll starve around here when we get home. Jay is pretty darn handy around the house, but not so much in the kitchen. Blah. That's about it. I wish I had another good book to read.

How did I only just stumble upon this book? Wooly embroidered goodness. I just love all of the rich, saturated colors she uses. I am definitely re-thinking color. I have a fondness for fresh, light colors in the kitchen, bath and bedrooms, but for the living room, I want a warm, bookish, cozy up by the fire feel with deeper colors, reds, rusts, deep turquoise and mossy greens. We already have the mossy green (our entire house is loaded with this color) and the walls are sort of a saffron color in the living room. I was fighting it, but now I think I'm going to work with it. I'll have to take some pictures. Anyway. Back to this book. I really like it. I'm sure I'm the last person to discover it, but I just thought I'd share. I can't wait until fall so I can whip out my wool fabrics, try my hand at dying them, and embroider some cozy pillows.

I can't wait to get them and get started! Like I'm not going to have enough to do, but aren't they the cutest things ever? So much talent, that Hillary!
